Lunch Out of the Office - Day 1

Monday, April 30th, 2007

It’s about lunch time and the agonizing decision of what I want for lunch is waiting for me to decide.  I find that I’m a creature of habit and I eat the same things over and over again.  That’s not because I haven’t any taste buds, but it’s because I despise inconvenience. I hate waiting in long lines. I hate getting out of my car. I hate paying a large amount of money for practically nothing. And I hate having to contemplate what I’m hungry for.

However, everyday this thought hits me at around 10am (sometimes 9am if I’m having a really bad day at work) and I’m forced to think about where I’m going to go to eat until noon if I’m lucky or 2 if I’ve been really devoted to my boss that day.  My lunch hour consists of 30 minutes.  I take the two fifteen minute breaks I’m paid for and make that my lunch.  The lunch hour that my employer so gratiously gives me is unpaid and I’d rather take that before or after work as opposed to in the middle of the day.

I’m sure many other people go through the same routine everyday.  “Hmm, what should I have for lunch?” Then turn to the fast food place next door in order to get something they had the day before. It’s time to stop this madness.  It’s time to try something new. So today is the last day I’m going to eat the same thing over and over again.  I’m going to try something new for at least the next thirty days. But not today! Today I’m going to eat one of my mundain lunches, but hopefully it will be a different lunch for you to try.

I spent twenty minutes to Wendy’s and back.  If you don’t go between noon and one in the afternoon I know the line moves faster.

My Lunch Normal from Wendy’s Super Value Menu

5 piece Chicken Nugget

Sour Cream & Chive Baked potatoe

Medium Iced Tea

Total Cost:  $3.97

I like to get ranch sauce or barbeque sauce with my nuggets.  Not for the nuggets though. I actually like to eat the potatoe skins with the sauce.  This lunch is pretty inexpensive if you think about it.  The drink was the most expensive part of the meal. Go figure! The dollar menu at Wendy’s I think is the best dollar menu except they keep raising their prices and making items more than a dollar.

Wew!  I’m full now.  A few more hours until I have to start thinking about dinner.
