Salad Take Two- Day 17

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

I went back to Wendy’s to try another one of their salads today. Trying new things has opened up some ideas on what I want to try for lunch. There are still two other salads I want to try at Wendy’s, but for today I got the Mandarin Chicken Salad. It came with those little chinese crunchy noodles, almonds and a packet of sesame salad dressing. The salad was really good with mandarin oranges, chicken, and lettuce. The almonds and crunchy noodles added a nice twist to the salad. If you are one to not eat dressing on your salad, there is enough flavor with out the dressing to make this salad worth getting.

Deli food - Day 15 and Day 16

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

There has been a new deli franchise popping up around Colorado– Heidi’s Brooklyn Deli. I found one nearby my work and thought I’d give it a try. I got over there after the lunch rush, which from what I gathered from the employees was very, very busy. They make all of their bread fresh and have a deli counter like you see in a super-market too. I’m not sure if they sell meat the same way though. The have a huge menu and I thought I’d try something I wouldn’t normally try. Everything on the menu looked good, but I kept coming back to a sandwich called the Bronx Bomber. The sandwich was on your choice of Rye bread (light, dark or marbled) with pastrami and egg salad.

I’m not much of one for egg salad, but I do love rye bread. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had pastrami before, but again rye bread stood out to me. You could chose to have mustard or mayonaise or some other selections I don’t remember on your sandwich. I got spicy mustard. The sandwich was huge and I was stuffed after the first half. Pictured below is only a half and I had to save it for day two. The day old sandwich (stored in the fridge) was just as good and just as filling as the first half, but without the potatoe chips and iced tea.

I thought the sandwich was pretty pricy after having bought it, but since it lasted two days I’ll rate the price as okay. I would go back there again.

Just a tip: Take a friend and split the cost and the sandwich, it’s well worth it.

Mother’s Day and I’m a mother. Did I get taken out for Mother’s day? No. I did eat out however. My family and I went to the mall. My daughter got some shoes, my son got a hair cut and I got stuck waiting for my husbands lunch to be prepared at the Orange Julius counter. The kids at Orange Julius wished me happy mothers day though, thanks guys!
